Iowa tight end announces he plans to step away from football in 2018

If you were looking for Jake Coons to make an impact on the field for Iowa next season, that will have to wait indefinitely, as the tight end announced he plans to step away from football for the time being.
Coons was an in-state member of Iowa’s 2017 recruiting class. He was rated as a three-star prospect coming out of Solon. He redshirted during his only season on campus.
