The Wave at Kinnick Stadium is a special moment for all the players, coaches, officials and anyone else who might be in attendance. But it had new special meaning for Iowa offensive lineman Dalton Ferguson.
When The Wave commenced at the end of the first quarter in Saturday night’s game between the Hawkeyes and Northern Iowa, Ferguson was waving to two special people, his twin newborns, who were inside the hospital after being born five weeks premature.
The twin girls were born on Sept. 7. It was the first time Ferguson was able to wave to his daughters from the field.

The premature births resulted in an extended stay at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital for Ferguson’s daughters.
Ferguson also had the opportunity to start on the offensive line for the Hawkeyes on Saturday in the 38-14 win over UNI.
