Iowa WR commits to Hawkeyes over Nebraska, Iowa State

An Iowa wide receiver has decided to continue his athletic career in his home state.
Friday, the Hawkeyes received a verbal commitment from three-star wide receiver Brody Brecht, a native of Ankeny, Iowa. He picked Kirk Ferentz and company over offers from five other programs, including Nebraska, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and William & Mary.
Brecht is a 6-foot-4, 205-pound receiver who ranks as the No. 6 player out of his home state. He made his announcement with a post on Twitter on Friday.
“I want to thank all the coaches who have been a part of this process and have believed in me. But I have now found a home,” Brecht wrote. “I am extremely blessed and excited to announce my commitment to the University of Iowa.”
Per 247Sports’ Composite rankings, Brecht ranks as one of the top 500 talents in the 2021 class, coming in at No. 463. He is also currently listed as the No. 77 wide receiver of the cycle.
Brecht has been a productive player at the high school level since his freshman year. Over the last three years, he’s totaled 82 catches for 1,670 yards and 17 touchdowns. Last year at Ankeny High School, Brecht had the best season of his career with 796 yards and seven touchdowns on 35 receptions — all career highs.
Though Iowa adds another talented prospect to the 2021 class, the Hawkeyes still rank sixth in the nation and second in the B1G.
