In his Wednesday news conference, Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz addressed the status of wide receiver Arland Bruce IV.

Bruce has been one of the few bright spots for this Hawkeye offense which has struggled all season. Bruce was injured recently but it appears he may play against Minnesota Saturday.

Bruce has 177 yards receiving on the season with one touchdown, but he averages over 10 yards per catch. Bruce has taken on a leadership role for this team as its No. 1 receiver and punt returner and he talked about his role on the team last month with Hawk Central.

“I knew I was going to be a leader but not as big as maybe the first few weeks when I was considered the wide receiver one or the only guy that had game experience,” he said. “I think I’ve really just had to step up and mature. Even though this is my second year, I feel like I’m a veteran.”

The Hawkeyes definitely will need him if they want to have a chance against Minnesota this weekend.
