Iowa’s second quarter was about as good as any we’ve seen this season.

At the end of the first quarter, Maryland owned a 7-3 lead and it appeared that we’d be in store for a fun game in College Park. That wasn’t the case. The Hawkeyes completely dominated the next 15 minutes of the contest, pulling away from the Terrapins.

Iowa collected 4 turnovers in the 2nd quarter, 3 interceptions and a fumble, leading to a 31-0 advantage for the quarter. The Hawkeyes took a 34-7 lead into the locker room and are one step closer to being 5-0.

Taulia Tagovailoa tossed 4 picks in the half.

Below is a laundry list of highlights from Iowa’s dominant 2nd quarter in College Park:

Spener Petras ended the half completing 12-of-19 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. He also scored on 2 quarterback carries.

Arland Bruce IV was the team’s leading receiver with 40 yards and a touchdown on 5 catches. Tyler Goodson had 62 yards on 13 carries.

The game was really well played through the 1st quarter, but it’s all Hawkeyes at the half.
