Iowa’s Caitlin Clark takes home B1G’s highest honor in women’s hoops

Iowa star Caitlin Clark has been named the B1G Player of the Year after putting together one of the most incredible seasons ever seen on the hardwood. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the league.
Clark led Iowa to a share of the B1G regular season title with a 14-4 mark in league play and a 20-7 record overall. The Hawkeyes tied Ohio State atop the conference standings this year.
Clark averaged an impressive 27.5 points, 8.3 assists and 7.9 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 46% from the floor. She ended the season with 5 triple-double performances and eclipsed the 40-point mark 3 times during the year.

In Iowa’s season finale against Michigan, Clark scored 38 points, dished 11 assists, grabbed 6 rebounds and collected 3 steals in a 104-80 victory. That win helped the Hawkeyes secure a share of the league championship.
Earlier this season, Clark made history on the hardwood, eclipsing the 1,500-point mark in just 56 career games. She was the first Division I player — men’s or women’s — to accomplish that feat so quickly in 20 years.
Clark and the Hawkeyes earned a double-bye because of their regular season success. They’ll start the B1G Tournament on Friday, March 4.
