Iowa’s Ihmir Smith-Marsette takes kickoff return 98 yards to re-take lead from USC early

Ihmir Smith-Marsette is one talented player. People know him for his receiving skills, as they should.

But, Smith-Marsette isn’t just a great wide receiver. The Iowa pass-catcher — who caught a touchdown pass earlier in the Holiday Bowl against USC — can return kicks, too. He showed that off midway through the second quarter:

This is the second-straight game that Smith-Marsette has returned a kickoff for a touchdown. He did so against Nebraska for 95 yards midway through the second quarter on Nov. 29 as well.

The Hawkeyes and Trojans are in a shootout early, as the 98-yard return gave Iowa a 21-14 lead. The offenses have showcased their abilities so far, and now, the special teams unit for Iowa has as well.
