Luka Garza is one of the best players in the B1G this season. Whether you watch him play or look at the box score at the end of the game, it’s pretty tough deny he’s been almost unstoppable in the 2019-20 season.
On Saturday, in a top 25 showdown between Iowa and Penn State, Garza had a career night, scoring 34 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and blocking two shots for the Hawkeyes. Unfortunately for Garza, that performance came in a losing effort, as Penn State defeated Iowa 89-86.
That marked the second time this season that Garza has scored 30 points and 10 rebounds in a game, becoming just the fifth B1G player since the 2010-11 season to hit that achievement. His other performance came early in a mid-November matchup against Oral Roberts. Garza scored 30 points and grabbed 10 boards in an 87-74 victory.
Garza is averaging a double-double on the season, with 22.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He’s also averaging over 1.5 blocks per contest for the year.
Garza has recorded a double-double in eight of Iowa’s 14 contests and has reached double figures in scoring 13 times. The Hawkeyes are back on the hardwood on Tuesday, traveling to Lincoln to play rival Nebraska.
