It just means more in the SEC. That’s what the conference wants you to believe. That’s what a lot of media outlets want you to believe, too.
But on Saturday, it actually meant more to Georgia State.
Saturday marked the season opener for Georgia State and Tennessee, with the Volunteers hosting the Panthers for what appeared to be an easy win on paper. Four quarters later, Georgia State was ahead 38-30 on the scoreboard when the clock hit zero.
That marked a huge victory for Georgia State and was a devastating loss for Tennessee. After the game, Georgia State head coach Shawn Elliott called took a shot at the SEC — one that’s sure to get plenty of attention.

Yeah, Elliott speaks for fans of every other college football conference in the country with that statement.
Tennessee wasn’t the only SEC team to experience a big-time failure on Saturday, Ole Miss was defeated 15-10 by Memphis and North Carolina knocked off South Carolina in the season opener, as well.
Not a great day in SEC country, where it supposedly “means more.”
