Entering Saturday’s top-15 showdown against the Michigan Wolverines with 3,902 rushing yards, Ohio State junior J.K. Dobbins needed just 59 yards to tie Ezekiel Elliott (3,961) for second on the school’s all-time rushing list.

Punctuating the Buckeyes’ first drive with a five-yard touchdown, he wasted no time moving past the current Dallas Cowboy and into sole possession of second-place.

CFB on FOX recognized the accomplishment on Twitter:

A native of La Grange, Texas, Dobbins was the No. 2 all-purpose running back in the 2017 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Committing to then-head coach Urban Meyer in March 2016 without having even visited the campus, he knew he wanted to continue Ohio State’s tradition of outstanding tailback play.

Dobbins has surpassed 1,000 yards on the ground in each of his three seasons in Columbus. Two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin holds the program’s all-time rushing record with 5,589 yards.

Live from Michigan Stadium, No. 1 Ohio State at No. 13 Michigan is currently airing on FOX with Gus Johnson, Joel Klatt and “The All-American Girl” Jenny Taft on the call.
