J.K. Dobbins receives heaps of praise from Kirk Herbstreit after performance against Clemson

Ohio State lost to Clemson 29-23 Saturday night in the Fiesta Bowl with the opportunity to advance to the national championship. The loss was heartbreaking.

Plays were made by both teams on both sides of the ball that made the game itself feel like a heavyweight fight. But, in the end, the Buckeyes’ season came to a close.

Running back J.K. Dobbins had over 100 rushing yards in the first quarter alone, but after sustaining an ankle injury, he couldn’t keep pace with what he was doing in the first 15 minutes of play. He tried to return at the start of the second half, but fell to the ground in pain on his own. He wasn’t even involved in the play.

Dobbins had to be helped off the field and went into the tunnel to get his ankle looked at even further. Then, roughly 20 minutes later, the Buckeyes’ newest single-season rushing leader ran onto the sideline, trying to pump the crowd back up.

His team needed a boost, and Dobbins was able to enter the game again. He would finish the game thanks to pure determination and will. Dobbins’ team may have lost, and it will sting for a long time. But, he showed that he is an absolute warrior.

After the game ended, he wrote on Twitter, thanking Buckeye Nation for this past season:

Herbstreit wanted Dobbins to know exactly how he felt about the Buckeye great. Again, Dobbins showed that he is a warrior through and through. Nobody can take that away from him, win or loss.

We all saw that Saturday night.
