J.T. Barrett underwent minor surgery, should be ready for B1G Championship Game

J.T. Barrett might be one of the toughest players in college football.
Barrett suffered a knee injury prior to Ohio State’s game against Michigan last Saturday after colliding with a photographer on the Michigan Stadium sideline. While he tried to go the full 60 minutes, the Buckeyes quarterback had to leave the game in the third quarter because of the injury.
Over the last few days, head coach Urban Meyer has said that he wasn’t sure if Barrett would be able to play in this weekend’s B1G Championship Game against Wisconsin.
But Ohio State received some good news, and it sounds like Barrett will be under center on Saturday night.
According to Tim May of the Columbus Dispatch, Barrett underwent minor surgery to repair some of the damage from the knee injury. He’s recovered quickly and progressed nicely and is expected to start the game for the Buckeyes at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Meyer said earlier in the week that backup Dwayne Haskins would be ready if his number was called. Last week, Haskins completed 6-of-7 passes for 94 yards and engineered a go-ahead touchdown drive in the second half against the Wolverines.
Surprisingly, this will be Barrett’s first appearance in the B1G title game. In 2014, the quarterback was injured in the season finale against Michigan and was unable to play.
Saturday’s game between Ohio State and Wisconsin is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. ET and will air on FOX.
