When you’ve enjoyed as much success as Urban Meyer has in his coaching career, everyone wants to reach out when things come to an end.
On New Year’s Day, Meyer’s coaching career came to an end as the Buckeyes defeated Washington in the Rose Bowl. He announced in December that it would be his final game as the leader of Ohio State.
A few days after the 28-23 win in Pasadena, legendary golfer and Ohio State alum Jack Nicklaus wanted to wish Meyer well in retirement. The 18-time winner of major championships issued his well wishes via Twitter.
Nicklaus also had to poke fun at Meyer and his less-than-impressive golf game.
Want to congratulate & wish @OSUCoachMeyer well in retirement! Urban, my friend, you came to @OhioStateFB with tremendous credentials & you only enhanced those while there (83-9 in 7 seasons!). And then you finish it off with a great win in your first @rosebowlgame.

Now on to other things in life. While Barbara & I know you and Shelley will enjoy life away from the field, we also know you will do whatever you can to help grow @OhioStAthletics and Buckeye Nation!
Go Bucks‼️p.s. You can now seriously work on your golf game. 😊 pic.twitter.com/pbTmSnOvh1

Meyer had been the coach of the Buckeyes for seven seasons, leading the team to three B1G titles and a national championship. With the Rose Bowl victory, Meyer finished 83-9 while serving as the head coach in Columbus.
On Saturday, Meyer also received a standing ovation from fans at an Ohio State basketball game.
