Jack Tuttle will be returning to Michigan for the 2024 campaign and his 7th year of college football.

Tuttle announced that news on Saturday evening. His waiver for an additional year of eligibility was granted by the NCAA this week.

Here’s his announcement:

Tuttle redshirted in 2018 and received a medical hardship in 2022 after he missed nearly all of that season with a shoulder injury. He also received a blanket waiver in 2020 due to the pandemic along with every other college football player.

Tuttle will be a veteran presence in Michigan’s quarterback room as the Wolverines look to transition out of the JJ McCarthy era. After winning the national title in 2023, McCarthy is set to turn pro and join the NFL ranks in 2024.

McCarthy’s departure leaves Michigan with a relatively young and inexperienced quarterback room outside of Tuttle. Michigan freshman and 4-star prospect Jadyn Davis is widely viewed as the future of the position at Michigan, but it’s unclear if he will be a Day 1 starter for the Wolverines in 2024. Alex Orji and Jayden Denegal are also expected to be in the mix as Michigan looks for its next quarterback.

Tuttle spent the first 5 years of his collegiate career at Indiana before transferring to Michigan after the 2022 season. Last season at Michigan, he completed 15-of-17 passes for 130 yards, 1 touchdown and 0 interceptions.
