Jaden Akins was a sight for sore Michigan State eyes on Monday. He was seen in uniform and warming up ahead of the Spartans’ season opener against Northern Arizona per Detroit Free Press’ Chris Solari.
Akins is supposed to have a larger role for Michigan State this season. He averaged 3.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.7 assists for the Spartans in 2021. This is great news for the young guard, who has been recovering from a foot stress fracture.
Welcome back, basketball.
FYI, MSU’s Jaden Akins is in uniform and going through warmups. Appears he will be available tonight for the season opener vs. Northern Arizona (7 p.m./BTN+). pic.twitter.com/3yhCkzD0Bg

After the season opener Michigan State faces a tough non-conference slate of games. Tom Izzo’s team will be tested by Gonzaga, Kentucky, Villanova, Alabama, and Notre Dame in that order before B1G play opens on Dec. 4.
The Spartans might not be ranked to start the season, but they will have a great opportunity to get ranked early in the year.
Michigan State and Northern Arizona tip off at 7 p.m. ET on BTN+. It’s basketball time in B1G country.
Grant Bricker covers the B1G for Saturday Tradition. His previous stops include the Williamson Homepage and Nashville Post.
