Jake Butt can’t wait to see how Michigan’s defense stacks up against Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe in the Rose Bowl.

Butt joined “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” on WJOX out of Birmingham, Alabama on Tuesday to preview the Wolverines’ next game. He didn’t get the chance to play against Alabama while at Michigan, but understands that it will be a tough test for Jim Harbaugh and Michigan.

Milroe can cause many problems for opposing defenses with his ability to extend plays with his legs. Butt believes in Michigan’s defense and whatever plans defensive coordinator Jesse Minter draws up to slow Milroe down.

“It’s gotta be Michigan’s defense versus Jalen Milroe. What I’m really excited about is when you go back and watch that Ohio State game, what you see with Michigan is an extremely intelligent and mature defense. … Of course, it’s gonna be a different game stopping Jalen Milroe and trying to contain him,” said Butt. “The point I’m trying to make is that whatever Jesse Minter wants to dream up to try and contain Jalen Milroe, they’re gonna be able to execute it because the defense is so experienced.”

Michigan finished 2nd in the B1G this season in yards allowed with 239.2 per game. It will be no easy task stopping Milroe, however.
