Ja’Kobi Lane just delivered a Catch of the Year candidate in the 1st half against Maryland.
USC quarterback Miller Moss lofted a ball to the back of the end zone and Lane somehow came down with the ball for a 15-yard score. The ball was behind Lane but the big receiver reached one out and was able to pull the ball into his body and secure the catch.
And, Lane did it all with one hand.

The score put the Trojans up 14-7 in the 2nd quarter. The circus catch was Lane’s team-leading 5th TD of the season. It was Moss’ 2nd TD pass of the game and 13th of the season.
Lane has been one of USC’s most reliable pass-catchers in 2024. Coming into the game, the WR was tied for the team lead with 23 catches for 252 yards and 4 TDs.
The Trojans are hoping to get back on the winning track after losing 2 in a row. The team is sitting at 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the conference. Maryland, meanwhile, is also sitting at 3-3 but the team is winless in conference play through games.
With just under 3 minutes to play in the 1st half, the Trojans are still enjoying a 14-7 lead. Moss has completed 16 of 21 passes for 176 yards and 2 TDs. Makai Lemon is the leading receiver with 4 catches for 46 yards.
Regardless of the outcome of this game, Lane’s catch will be replayed for the foreseeable future. The body control and concentration was incredibly impressive on that TD grab.
