Michigan is in Sweet 16 action vs. 2-seed Villanova Thursday night, and a tight first-half battle saw the Wildcats take a slim lead into halftime.
The first 20 minutes of the game was a back-and-forth affair. At one point, it looked like Villanova might take control of the momentum with 5 minutes left in the half.
Then, Michigan responded with a 7-0 run. That stretch included 5 points from DeVante’ Jones, including a 3-point field goal to give the Wolverines a 22-20 lead.
Jones’ 3-point field goal elicited a very happy reaction from Jalen Rose who is in attendance:

Unfortunately, Michigan was not quite able to maintain all of that momentum into halftime. The Wildcats responded with 6 straight points and finished the first half on an 11-6 scoring run for a 31-28 halftime lead.
Of concern for the Wolverines in the second half is foul trouble for Hunter Dickinson. The star big man led Michigan with 8 points and 4 rebounds but finished the half on the bench after getting tagged with his 2nd foul.
