Saturday night was rough for Penn State kicker Sander Sahaydak, who missed 2 field goals in the first half of Penn State’s game against West Virginia.
While the field goals ultimately didn’t make a difference as Penn State cruised to a victory, it weighed heavy on Sahaydak. Penn State head coach James Franklin pulled Sahaydak after the misses and put in Alex Felkins instead for the second half.
Sahaydak decided to meet with the team about his performance the day after the game. He felt he needed to address the performance, and his coach commended him for it.
“Sander Sahaydak got up in front of the team (Sunday) without me talking to him, anybody talking to him,” Franklin said in his press conference Tuesday. “Got up and handled himself really well. I was really proud of him. … I think he’s earned everybody’s respect. What he did right there did it even more.”
While there has not been a decision made on who will start this Saturday as Penn State takes on Delaware, Sahaydak certainly made strides in earning back the respect of his team.
