Nittany Lions defensive coordinator Brent Pry has done a phenomenal job with his defense through 5 weeks and James Franklin has more than noticed it.
Franklin officially started the campaign for Pry to be up for the Broyles Award, which goes to the top assistant coach in the country.
James Franklin says he thinks DC Brent Pry should be up for the Broyles Award this year (nation's top assistant coach) "and probably should've been a few years in the past too."

Through 5 games, Penn State is No. 33 in the country in total defense as the unit has only allowed 314.2 total yards per game.
Going a bit further, the Nittany Lions rank No. 31 in rushing defense with only 111.6 yards against per game.
Where PSU really makes its mark is with red-zone defense. Going into Week 6, they have the No. 2 red-zone defense in the country as bend but not breaking describes that unit to a tee.
That will be put to the test in a big way on Saturday though as the Nittany Lions travel to Iowa to take on the Hawkeyes.
Iowa is coming off a 51-14 drubbing of Maryland last Friday and it would be a shock to see them score close to that in this matchup.
