James Franklin catches heat on social media as Penn State struggles vs. Indiana

James Franklin was feeling the heat last week after another loss to Ohio State. That loss and disastrous showing in Columbus had the head coach once again facing questions about his big-game legacy at Penn State.

Now, the Nittany Lions suddenly find themselves in a dogfight against Indiana. Penn State entered the game as more than a 4-touchdown favorite against the Hoosiers, but Indiana has come out firing.

Heading halftime, the two sides tightly matched up with Penn State holding a 17-14 lead. Indiana’s points came on a pair of big-play touchdowns from 90 yards and 69 yards out.

That in itself is worrisome for Penn State’s defense, but the offense has also struggled. The Nittany Lions had 4 punts and a missed field goal in the first half, and one of the touchdowns came on a short-field drive after a muffed punt by the Hoosiers.
