Penn State was already in a hole at the running back position, with star Journey Brown out for the season. Now, another Nittany Lion ball carrier will miss the remainder of the 2020 campaign.

On Tuesday, head coach James Franklin told reporters that Cain will be out for the remainder of the season. He left Saturday’s game against Indiana with and injury and did not return to the contest.

Cain ended the day with 3 carries for 13 yards.

Last season, Cain missed games because of an injury but the running back felt healthy coming into this season. He was a member of a loaded running back room that also included Brown, Devyn Ford and Caziah Holmes.

Now, the greatest strength of Penn State’s offense is now a big question mark for the remainder of the year. The Nittany Lions will need Holmes and Keyvone Lee to step up big for the rest of the season, as well as Ford.

Cain rushed for 443 yards and 8 touchdowns for Penn State in 2019. The Nittany Lions are set to take on Ohio State on Saturday in Beaver Stadium.
