James Franklin hints at logistical adjustment to Penn State’s gameday routine for trip to Auburn

Penn State football might be ready to take on Auburn inside Jordan-Hare Stadium, but the Nittany Lions might have a bumpy ride over to SEC Country.
According to On3 Sports’ Justin Hokenson, the Nittany Lions will fly into Columbus, Ga. before taking a bus over to Auburn, Ala. Columbus sits on the border of the state and is roughly a 45-minute drive over to Auburn.

Initially, Penn State was expected to fly into Montgomery, Ala., but the runway is currently undergoing construction.
“We got a little bit of a drive on game day to the stadium, which is a little unusual,” Penn State coach James Franklin said, via The Athletic’s Audrey Snyder. “Those Alabama state troopers will get us there on time.”

Last season, Bryan Harsin led the Tigers into Beaver Stadium in hopes of showing SEC dominance. Heading down to the wire, former Auburn QB Bo Nix couldn’t connect at the goal line for a touchdown, leading to the eventual 28-20 win for the Nittany Lions.
Penn State will be relying heavily on freshman running back Nicholas Singleton and senior transfer wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley to take care of business. In 2 games, Singleton has rushed for 210 yards off 20 carries.
Tinsley, who finished with 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns during his final season at Western Kentucky, has recorded 10 catches for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns.
