Starting right guard C.J. Thorpe has been missing the past two weeks for Penn State, with Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin providing some clarification on the situation during his media availability on Tuesday.

Franklin said that Thorpe has not been with the team due to a medical situation. The program is aware of what is going on, he said, but is allowing the process to play out.

“We hope to have him back but we’ll see,” Franklin said according to 247Sports. “Those are medical decisions that we’re not involved in, but obviously [we] are aware of.”

As a redshirt junior, Thorpe has played in six games for Penn State, making three starts. He has 32 career appearances for the Nittany Lions.

He last played on Nov. 28 in Penn State’s win at Michigan. He hasn’t appeared in the last two Penn State games.
