James Franklin took a visit to local Pennsylvania high school. It’s not every day a helicopter lands on the football field.

That’s exactly what happened when the Penn State HC showed up at Malvern Prep School on Friday. Coach Franklin was on campus, and met with students and staff briefly.

It’s unknown if Franklin was at the school to scout a particular player, or as community good will. Malvern Preparatory School is an independent, Augustinian school for young men in grades six through twelve. The school, located less than three hours from State College, could be a potential treasure trove of talent for the Lions.

After tumultuous seasons in 2020 and 2021, Franklin has been looking to revitalize Penn State as a consistent B1G title contender, and it seems to be working.

Penn State finished the 2020 season with an overall record of 4-5, and 7-6 with a 4-5 record in B1G play in 2021.  Penn State has started the 2022 season 4-0, including a 35-31 B1G road win versus Purdue in Week 1.

The No. 11 Nittany Lions will take on Northwestern on Saturday.
