Marquis Wilson is starting to come on strong for the Penn State defense, and head coach James Franklin updated the plans for him the rest of the season.
There had been some questions about the possibility that Wilson, a freshman, may redshirt this season. Saturday’s win over Michigan marked the fourth appearance for him this season, putting him at the maximum number of games he can play in to retain a season of eligibility.

On Wednesday, Franklin updated Wilson’s status and indicated that he will continue playing for the Nittany Lions. He praised Wilson’s mentality, labeling him the most confident defensive back for the team and could fill a variety of positions.
That means a redshirt is not in the plans for the young DB:
Franklin on Marquis Wilson: "He may be the most confident defensive back we have. He's a guy that could play wide receiver and return punts for us." The head coach confirmed that Wilson will continue to feature on special teams and defense for the remainder of the year.
