Jase Richardson: Michigan State can ‘most definitely’ win a national championship

Jase Richardson has been a key cog for Michigan State all season long. After beginning the season as the 6th man for Tom Izzo, Richardson’s ascension to the starting lineup unlocked a massive run to the outright Big Ten title for the Spartans.
Now, MSU is the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Basketball Tournament and punched its ticket to the semifinals with a 74-64 win over Oregon on Friday. The Spartans led by 10 at halftime and by as many as 16 in the 2nd half in an impressive win over the Ducks.
After the game, Richardson joined BTN and was asked about the prospects of the Spartans in March Madness. He did not back down, saying he believes MSU has all the pieces needed to win a national title after cleaning up a few areas.
“Most definitely. I think we have the tools to do it, and we have the coaching staff to do it,” said Richardson when asked if his team can win it all. “We’ve just got to believe in ourselves and do our job. Tonight we didn’t shoot it as well from the free-throw line. I didn’t shoot it as well from the free-throw line, so just a few things we’ve got to improve on.”

Free-throw shooting was the one area Michigan State underwhelmed during the win over Oregon. The Spartans were just 17-for-29 (58.6%), so the 10-point win over the Ducks could have been even larger if the free throws were knocked down at an efficient clip.
As for the national title, MSU is tied for the 7th-best odds at DraftKings, coming in at +2200 to win it all while Auburn (+350) and Duke (+360) lead the way with Selection Sunday quickly approaching. Fans can grab the DraftKings promo code Ohio to get into the action with the best offers.
Michigan State will continue its run in Indianapolis on Saturday. The Spartans will play at 1:30 pm ET on CBS against the winner of UCLA vs. Wisconsin.
