Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been missing from the Ohio State lineup since the Toledo game in Week 2. On Wednesday he was seen catching passes from a jugs machine per Eleven Warriors’ Griffin Strom.
One of Ohio State’s best receivers from a season ago, Smith-Njigba has not played after suffering a hamstring injury against Notre Dame in the season opener. This doesn’t confirm that he’ll play in the Iowa game, but it is a good sign.
Without Smith-Njigba names like Emeka Egbuka and Marvin Harrison Jr. have been able to carry the load. The pair has combined for 1,100+ yards receiving and 15 touchdowns. Julian Fleming is also starting to back to his old self.
Smith-Njigba had more receiving yards than Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson last season. His 1,606 yards receiving will be something that Buckeyes fans will be hoping to see flashes of in his return.
We’ll see if Smith-Njigba returns to action against Iowa Saturday at noon ET on FOX.
