Jaxon Smith-Njigba did not play a lot of games during the 2022 season, but that shouldn’t matter according to FOX analyst R.J. Young. Young talked about 1 team that Smith-Njigba would be an ideal fit at on his podcast ‘The Number One College Football Show’.
Smith-Njigba played in three games this past season after coming off of a 2021 campaign where he had 1,606 yards receiving and 9 touchdowns. Young believes that the Green Bay Packers need to take Smith-Njigba with the 15th overall pick and gave a case for it.
“The best receivers at Green Bay right now played college football at Nevada (Romeo Doubs) and North Dakota State (Christian Watson). Do you expect to find another Davante Adams coming out of Fresno State? Yea maybe. But I doubt it. Because Davante Adams is Davante Adams. You just can’t make draft picks based on that. You have to make draft picks based on your needs and what the floor is, not what the ceiling is.”
“Go get that dude, put him out in the numbers or on the slot, it doesn’t really matter.”@RJ_Young likes the idea of the @packers drafting @jaxon_smith1 ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/4kVuFlLGyX

Davante Adams is no longer on the Packers after being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in March of 2022.
Smith-Njigba did not play in a lot of games in 2022, but Young believes that what the former Ohio State WR did in 2021 should be enough. One of the highlights of Smith-Njigba’s 2021 season was the bowl record for receiving yards in a game (347) he set during the Rose Bowl vs. Utah.
“We’re still thinking about the 2021 season where Smith-Njigba was ridiculous,” said Young. “Especially in the 2022 Rose Bowl, where he set the bowl record for receiving yards in a game with 347. Go get that dude, put him out in the numbers or on the slot, it doesn’t really matter.”
Should the Packers take Smith-Njigba?
