Jayden Reed explains decision to return to Michigan State, says he’s only ‘scratched the surface’

Jayden Reed 2 months ago announced that he would return to Michigan State after he led the Spartans with 1,026 receiving yards. In his original announcement, Reed said the NFL remains his goal, but the Spartans have unfinished business.

On Tuesday, Reed explained more about the decision, and how much potential he has this season.

“I really feel like there was a mission that we had to compete,” Reed said, and added that he’s only “scratched the surface,” and added that he definitely plans on continuing to return punts and kicks.

Reed returns as one of the more versatile players in the Big Ten, as his career has seen him start all 20 games in his Spartan career and 32 of his 33 collegiate games overall. Reed has 3,560 all-purpose yards in his career. That’s why he was a Paul Hornung Award finalist as one of the most versatile players in the country, and was an All-Big Ten selection as all-purpose player by the Associated Press.

Jayden Reed says the decision to come back was based on helping the team achieve even more, a deep WR draft class, improving his own play (he has only “scratched the surface”) and of course playing with Thorne.
