Purdue quarterback Aidan O’Connell is out for the year with a foot injury, coach Jeff Brohm announced on Thursday.

Brohm said O’Connell is having foot surgery.

O’Connell had an outstanding year for the Boilermakers. He completed 64.7 percent of his passes and was the Big Ten’s leader in yards per game when he went down with this injury.

Unfortunately due to this injury and COVID-19, O’Connelly only played in three games. Purdue’s record in those contests was 2-1.

Brohm said earlier this season that he originally suffered in the injury against Illinois. He went on to throw 51 passes in a loss to Northwestern in what became his final game of the season.

Jack Plummer is expected to remain the starter in O’Connell’s absence. Purdue has narrowly lost its last two games with Plummer as the quarterback.

Purdue hosts Nebraska this weekend.
