Based on Brohm’s most recent comments, the Boilermakers will have to limit Thompson’s playing time throughout the season. Thompson dealt with a knee injury in the offseason and worked to get back with the team.
Thompson played in the season opener against Penn State on Sept. 1. In that game, Thompson had 3 receptions for a total of 28 receiving yards.
In 2021, Thompson was an impactful receiver for Purdue with a total of 30 catches, 457 receiving yards, and 4 touchdowns. He played in all 13 games last season and was the Music City Bowl MVP. In the Music City Bowl win over Tennessee, Thompson had 217 yards, 7 catches, and 2 touchdowns.
The 2022 season was Thompson’s 2nd season at Purdue. He transferred from Marshall at the end of the 2020 season. Thompson played at Marshall from 2019 to 2020.
He will look to be a factor in the passing game for Aidan O’Connell. Purdue will return to action in Week 3 against Syracuse on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.
