Jeff Brohm says Purdue has to ‘defend in space’ against TCU’s two-QB system

Purdue bounced back from its loss to Nevada in Week 1 to capture a victory against an SEC program Saturday, but the Boilermakers will face a more unique challenge during Week 3.
This weekend, the TCU Horned Frogs will bring their two-quarterback offense to West Lafayette, giving Purdue one of the most unique challenges it will face this year. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at Ross-Ade Stadium.
But coach Jeff Brohm doesn’t sound too concentrated on who will be behind center for the Horned Frogs. During his weekly press conference Monday, he emphasized what Purdue’s defense must do after the ball is delivered to the TCU backs and receivers.
Brohm on TCU and its two-QB system: Will spread you out. Have to defend in space. Do OK when we load the box. We blitzed more this past week, pressured, got hits. Have to stay on the attack.

TCU is coming off a bye, which gives Purdue another challenge, so the Big 12 program has only played one game, and that was against a FCS team. But in that contest, where TCU won 39-7, senior quarterback Alex Delton and freshman signal caller Max Duggan practically split passing attempts. Delton went 10 of 22 for 119 yards while Duggan was 16-for-23 with 165 yards and a touchdown.
While Duggan did better through the air, Delton led TCU with 67 rushing yards in Week 1. The Horned Frogs racked up 200 yards on the ground against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Purdue is 2-0 against TCU in the all-time series between these two programs, but they have squared off since 1970.
