Jeff Brohm shuts down speculation of leaving Purdue for another job

Jeff Brohm has done an incredible job taking Purdue from the B1G cellar and turning it into a competitive Power Five program in just one year. That kind of success draws all kinds of eyeballs from across the college football landscape.
That includes programs looking for a head coach.
Brohm’s name has been thrown in the coaching pool recently, potentially serving as a viable candidate to take over at SEC programs like Tennessee or Florida. His unique brand of offense seems to fit the mentality that both of those traditional powers desire.
On Monday, the Purdue head coach joined the Query & Schultz show on Fox Radio to talk about this week’s clash with Indiana, the success the team has enjoyed early in his tenure, and, of course, those coaching rumors.
Brohm essentially dismissed the idea that he would up and leave Purdue after one season.
“I don’t like to move a lot. This is close to my roots in the state of Kentucky,” Brohm said. “I’m excited about this challenge [at Purdue], and it drives me. I’m looking forward to trying to build this program.”
That’s an encouraging statement for Purdue fans to hear. In the coming weeks, especially if the Boilermakers earn a postseason bid with a win over the Hoosiers on Saturday.
Brohm has taken a team that won just nine games in four seasons to the precipice of bowl eligibility. That kind of success warrants some recognition from around the sport.
But it sounds like Brohm is content in West Lafayette, at least for now.
