Jeff Brohm unhappy with Elijah Sindelar’s toughness after Purdue’s loss to Nevada

Week 1 has nearly come to a close and one of the earlier games to be played occurred on Friday when Purdue traveled to take on Nevada.
The Boilermakers were favored, but still ended up losing 34-31 thanks to a last-second 56-yard field goal.

After the game, Purdue coach Jeff Brohm got to speak with the media after his team held a 31-14 lead midway through the third quarter. Brohm talked about quarterback Elijah Sindelar and how he has to be tougher:
“I thought Elijah did some good things early on and then just reverted back to getting a little pressure and throwing off his back foot and throwing some interceptions — probably had a couple others that should’ve been picked in the second half. You gotta stand in there strong and you gotta be able to step up and be able to find a checkdown or run through it with some force and some toughness. It’s a learning experience but it’s gotta get fixed.”
As Brohm said, early on, Sindelar did just fine. He had four TD passes in the first two-and-a-half quarters. From that point on, though, Purdue was held scoreless. That led to Nevada’s dramatic comeback.
In Week 2, Sindelar and the Boilermakers are scheduled to take on Vanderbilt at noon at Saturday, Sept. 7 at home. The game will be televised on BTN.
