Jeff Brohm gave an update on Purdue’s leading receiver Charlie Jones, who is battling an injury, on Thursday.

Jones has been dealing with an unknown lingering injury for the past four weeks after heading to the locker room in Week 3. Despite that, he has still been a participant in each game since.

Jones’ production had taken a dip against Minnesota and Maryland, but he was key in the Boilermakers’ 43-37 win over Nebraska in Week 7, catching 12 passes for 132 yards and 2 scores.

According to Brohm, Purdue thinks Jones will be able to play but had “no comment” on whether or not Jones practiced this week.

On the year, Jones sits at No. 7 in the country in receiving yards with 735. He is also tied for the 2nd-most receiving touchdowns with 9.

Jones has been a staple in one of the top passing offenses in the country, and Purdue would certainly like to have him against Wisconsin in Week 8.

The Boilermakers haven’t beaten the Badgers since 2003, losing the last 15 matchups. They have one of their best chances to do so this week against a stumbling Wisconsin team who just fired its coach, and having Jones would boost that likelihood.
