Jeff Brohm’s new contract makes him among 10 highest-paid coaches in CFB

Purdue has made a clear financial investment in head coach Jeff Brohm.
On Friday, the Purdue University Board of Trustees approved a one-year contract extension for Brohm, which would keep him in West Lafayette through the 2025 season. At the time, financial information was not available, but those details have now been released.
Brohm and Purdue have agreed to a new seven-year deal worth $36.8 million. That contract includes a $1.7 million signing bonus, which is expected to be spread over the next two years, according to Mike Carmin of the Journal and Courier.
Brohm’s annual salary will increase from $4.2 million to $4.8 million. With bonuses, he is expected to make $5.25 million in 2019, which ranks third among B1G coaches, according to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic.
The new contract makes Brohm one of the 10 highest-paid coaches in college football.
After being the top candidate for the head coaching vacancy at Louisville, his alma mater, Brohm opted to remain at Purdue. In his first two years with the program, the Boilermakers are 13-13 with back-to-back bowl appearances. Brohm has also inked a top 25 recruiting class, one of the best Purdue has had.
“Purdue University is a special place, and the support we have received from Boilermaker fans everywhere has inspired us to work even harder to achieve our goals,” Brohm said in a statement. “My family and I are extremely happy in West Lafayette, and our entire staff is excited about the great opportunities that lie ahead for Purdue football.”
Purdue concluded its spring season on Saturday and opens the 2019 campaign on the road against Nevada. It will be the third year of the Brohm era in West Lafayette.
