Jeremiah Smith was the No. 1 overall prospect for the 2024 recruiting class. After early enrolling at Ohio State, he drew rave reviews throughout spring camp and is expected to be an immediate contributor for the Buckeyes.

Recently, EA Sports began filtering out some rankings and ratings for the upcoming College Football 25 video game. The official release is set for this week, and some prominent player ratings for true freshmen were updated recently.

To no surprise, Smith headlines the first round of freshmen ratings at 84 overall. Of the initial ratings, 7 true freshmen received a rating of 80+, including Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola at 80. Julian Sayin, the Alabama signee who eventually transferred to Ohio State, received a 79 overall rating.

Smith has long been viewed as a generational WR prospect, and Ohio State finalizing his signing in December was a major load off of Ryan Day’s chest. It’s likely he would see immediate playing time at every program in America, but Smith steps into an Ohio State receiver room that is talented but shorter than usual on experience with a prime opportunity to carve out a major role.

Earning a mid-80s rating before taking a snap of college football speaks to Smith’s potential, and it is sure to get fans even more hyped up for his anticipated debut.
