Jeremiah Smith is one of many players who have landed on the midseason watchlist for the Biletnikoff Award. The honor is presented annually to the most outstanding receiver in the nation.

It is not only for wide receiver, as any player at any position that catches a forward pass is eligible to receive it. Ohio State is no stranger to the honor, most recently receiving it when Marvin Harrison Jr. was awarded the Biletnikoff for the 2023 season.

So far this season, Smith totals 32 catches for 553 yards with 7 touchdowns. He is the first Ohio State pass-catcher to have a receiving touchdown in the first 6 games of his career, making a big statement as a freshman. He has had two consecutive statement games, totaling 9 receptions for 100 yards with 1 touchdown in the 32-31 loss to the Oregon Ducks and 4 catches for 89 yards with 1 touchdown against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

RELATED: Even with the recent loss to Oregon, Smith and the Buckeyes still have some of the best odds in the country to win the national championship. Ohio State comes in at +450 at bet365, tied with Georgia for 2nd in the country and trailing only No. 1 Texas at +375. Use Tradition’s OH sports betting apps to take advantage of those odds ahead of Week 8!

Smith will look to stay on the right track as one of the nation’s best receivers when he and Ohio State face the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday, Oct. 26 in their home stadium. If he can continue this level of play, he’ll be in line for one of college football’s greatest honors and a potentially high future draft projection.
