Jeremiah Smith reveals his Ohio State WR Mt. Rushmore

Jeremiah Smith has played just one season at Ohio State, but what a season his freshman campaign turned out to be!
As a freshman, Smith reeled in 76 catches for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns. Those touchdowns rank 2nd in Ohio State football history for a single season, and his yardage ranks 4th while his receptions rank 6th.
Needless to say, Smith is well on his way to becoming one of the all-time Buckeye greats, but even he is not ready to name himself as one of the top players in Ohio State’s history. He was recently asked to reveal his Mt. Rushmore of Buckeye receivers, and it was a tough task.
Smith kindly declined to name himself as a rising sophomore, but was quick to name Cris Carter and a pair of stars from the Ryan Day era as 3 of his 4 selections.
“One, you’ve got to go with the great Cris Carter. You gotta go, I’m going to throw Marvin (Harrison Jr.) in there. I’m going to go Jax (Jaxon Smith-Njigba),” said Smith.
The final selection caused Smith a delay. He finally went with a somewhat surprising selection, naming Ted Ginn Jr. as his final player.

From Smith’s list, only Smith-Njigba doesn’t rank among the top-15 career receiving yards leaders in Ohio State history. However, Smith-Njigba’s 2021 season stands as the best individual season in Buckeye history with 95 catches for 1,606 yards.
We’ll see what Smith can produce in 2025, but another season or two like his freshman campaign will put him in rarified air in Columbus.
