Dallas Cowboys fans who are wanting to see Ezekiel Elliott tote the football will have to wait until the regular season.
Recently, franchise owner Jerry Jones was asked about whether or not Elliott would see any reps before the Cowboys open the 2018 regular season on Sept. 9 against Carolina. Jones made it pretty clear that he’s seen enough from the Pro-Bowl running back.
“I don’t need to see anymore of [Elliott] until Carolina,” Jones said, according to 247Sports.
Elliott wouldn’t have racked up many carries in the preseason anyway, but it’s not uncommon for the starters to see at least a few snaps to prepare for the season.
The former Ohio State star is entering his third season with the Cowboys and has racked up 2,614 yards and 22 touchdowns in his first two years. As a rookie in 2016, Elliott finished the regular season as the NFL’s leading rusher, totaling 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Dallas’ next preseason matchup comes against Arizona on Sunday, Aug. 26.
