Howard turned pro after 1 season at Michigan, playing for his father, Wolverines head coach Juwan Howard. In 2022-23, Howard averaged 14.2 points per game, finishing as Michigan’s second-leading scorer behind Hunter Dickinson. He earned All-B1G third-team honors for his contributions in a disappointing season for the Wolverines.
In his March announcement to turn pro, Howard acknowledged that an NIT appearance fell short of expectations in Ann Arbor.
“Being a Wolverine has been the honor of a lifetime,” Howard wrote in a tweeted note. “I apologize for not getting the job done this year with my brothers, but best believe we tried. The group coming back next year, along with special talent coming in, will most definitely accomplish everything we couldn’t. “Those who stay…” We are THE BEST UNIVERSITY IN THE WORLD!!! Thank you Wolverine Nation!”
Howard did not play in the NIT due to injury.
