Jim Harbaugh admits Michigan has a target on its back in 2023

Jim Harbaugh has his Michigan program 8-0 and riding an unprecedented string of dominance into a Week 9 bye. The Wolverines stomped out Michigan State 49-0 Saturday night and have reached 40+ points in 4 straight games.
Following the latest win, Harbaugh was asked about the perception that his program has a target on its back this season. That question comes following the announcement of another NCAA investigation into Michigan with allegations of sign stealing and in-person scouting.
Harbaugh admitted success can lend itself to putting a target on your back. The head coach also explained that there are some people who do not like to see others be successful.
“Yeah, I think success does that. There are people that don’t like to see other people be successful. And there’s a target? Yeah, I mean everybody’s pointed that out from the beginning of the season,” Harbaugh admitted. “But our guys are just very focused and just go about their business. Wake up, take care of their business today, and we’ve still got to get the guys back to Ann Arbor, wake up and take care of business again.
Later in his press conference, Harbaugh was asked if he had a reaction to that perceived target. For the Wolverines, it just comes back to the first rule of being a champion.
“It’s just the first rule of being a champion, don’t let up,” explained Harbaugh.
Michigan is already riding back-to-back B1G titles and the team is still the betting favorite in the Big Ten Championship odds to finish the 3-peat. If the Wolverines are able to make it 3 straight league titles, they’ll likely land once again in the College Football Playoff.
