With the NCAA’s moratorium on organized team activities coming to an end on June 1, many B1G schools are already implementing a plan for student-athletes to return to campuses in the early part of next month. That could mean that mandatory workouts begin in July, according to Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh.

This week, Harbaugh joined the Rich Eisen Show and said that it appears that mandatory workouts could begin on July 1. That would be one month after voluntary athletic activities were permitted to resume.

If Harbaugh’s timeline is correct, that would give most teams nearly two full months to prepare for the upcoming season. Many coaches and athletic directors have stated that having a six-week practice window would be enough time for players to prepare for the season.

This would give coaches even more time to work with players before the season started.

The 2020 B1G football season is scheduled to begin on Thursday, Sept. 3 with Minnesota hosting FAU. There will also be games on Friday, Sept. 4 and Saturday, Sept. 5.
