Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan program has become one of college football’s most dominant teams in recent years. Harbaugh’s long-term outlook at U-M, though, has been uncertain at times.

During his Monday press conference, Harbaugh was asked about a potential new contract.

“Yeah, I mean like anybody, I’ve said it. You want to be somewhere where you’re wanted,” Harbaugh said. “They like what you do and how you do it, and they tell you that. Your bosses tell you that, and then that gets reflected in a contract.

“The bottom line – any of us, right? We want to be somewhere they like how you do it and what you do.”

There was talk of a new contract for Harbaugh in June. Last week, Joel Klatt of FOX Sports said there is tension between Harbaugh and Michigan leadership. On Monday, The Detroit News reached out to Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel after the press conference question about the contract. Manuel indicated he would like to extend the head coach of the back-to-back defending B1G champs.

U-M fans will be watching closely for a new development.
