Jim Harbaugh is officially coming back for at least another year with Michigan football. The news was confirmed by Michigan president Santa Ono on Tuesday.
Ono revealed that Harbaugh would be back in 2023 after a phone call with the Michigan head coach. Harbaugh reaffirmed that his heart is and will be at Michigan in his statement that came out shortly after the news broke.
“I love the relationships that I have at Michigan. Coaches, staff, families, administration, President Santa Ono and especially the players and their families,” said Harbaugh. “My heart is at the University of Michigan. I once heard a wise man say, ‘Don’t try to out-happy, happy.’ Go Blue!”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Harbaugh called the Denver Broncos to let them know about the news on Tuesday afternoon. The Broncos were reportedly one of the teams that were interested in Harbaugh to fill their head coaching vacancy.
Jim Harbaugh did call the Broncos this afternoon to let them know that, despite their talks, he will in fact be returning to Michigan.
