Jim Knowles revealed how he’s always evolving the Ohio State defense at Tuesday’s presser. Knowles is always looking at ways to change it for the better.

Knowles stated he is committed to figuring out how to be better and wants his players to do the same.

“I’m ever evolving, I want to be. Always hard looks, sleepless nights trying to figure out how to be better. It’s what I’m committed to, because I want our players to be committed to being better. The evolving nature comes from not doing what we had to do in those matchup games. How do we evolve the defense to stay aggressive, continue to win on third downs, but also have plans in place to also prevent the explosive plays?”

Knowles’ defense allowed 21 points and 321.5 yards per game in his first season in Columbus last year.

One of the more recent disappointments for the defense came in the College Football Playoff semifinal. Ohio State let Georgia put up 42 points. The game before that, Ohio State lost 45-23 to Michigan.

It goes without saying, but Ohio State will need the defense to be more consistent all season long if the Buckeyes are to eclipse their 10.5 win total. Fans looking to get in on the action this fall can use our special Ohio sports betting promo code.

Knowles’ job sounds like a tough one in the current state of college football. This is especially true with how much offenses change at the college level.
