Jim Leonhard addressed the tragedy that took place coming out of the weekend. The college football world was rocked by the tragic deaths of three University of Virginia football players who were shot by a former teammate.
One of the players struck down was former Wisconsin Badger Devin Chandler. Chandler lost his life Sunday night when a gunman opened fire on campus following a bus trip, per reports. Two of the people shot, along with Chandler, died from their gunshot wounds.
Leonhard commented on the tragedy and the passing of Chandler to open his Tuesday press conference.
"We have a number of guys that are very close with Devin and really hard to see them going through losing a brother and a teammate."
"They know they have the support around here and we're just trying to do everything we can to support them."

“Sad day around the country and around college football and hit a little bit closer to home for us with Devin. Obviously, our thoughts and prayers are with the Virginia football family and coach (Tony) Elliott and the families and friends involved. Just a very sad situation and unfortunate for our country right now what we’re going through,” he said.
