Jim Leonhard got his first win as the interim head coach for Wisconsin as the Badgers took down the Northwestern Wildcats 42-7 on the road. Leonhard praised his team’s ability to fight through obstacles that caused the team to start the season 2-3.

Wisconsin jumped to a 28-0 lead at halftime time and led by as much as 35-0 in the fourth quarter. The Badgers had one of the best offensive performances this season as they accounted for 515 total yards and 26 first downs.

This is the first B1G win of the season for Wisconsin after starting with a 52-21 road loss at No. 3 Ohio State and a 34-10 home loss to Illinois. Paul Chryst was fired in his eighth year as head coach of Wisconsin after losing to Illinois in Week 5.

Leonhard is in his eighth season with Wisconsin and was in his seventh as the defensive coordinator before getting the promotion. Now, he’ll try and do enough throughout the rest of 2022 to land the permanent gig.
