Joe Acker gets Nebraska off to hot start as Huskers try to avoid elimination

Nebraska is facing elimination from the NCAA Tournament Sunday afternoon, but outfielder Joe Acker is doing everything he can to keep the Huskers rolling.
Playing in the Fayetteville Regional, Nebraska opened the Tournament with a Friday win over Northeastern. Unfortunately, the Huskers dropped a tough Saturday game to top overall seed Arkansas by a score of 5-1.
Now facing NJIT in a “win or go home” contest, Acker has already logged two extra-base hits in two at-bats. He started the game with a leadoff triple for Nebraska and later scored the first run of the game.
Then in the third inning, Acker made it 2-0 on a solo blast to left field. He definitely came prepared and is not looking to head back to Lincoln anytime soon.

After NJIT scored a run in the top of the fourth, Nebraska – and Acker – answered right back in the bottom frame. Acker laced an RBI single to make it 4-1 Huskers, giving the outfielder a 3-for-3 start to the game with a run scored and two RBI.
That was not the end of it in the fourth inning as the Huskers really poured it on. Nebraska scored eight runs in the fourth to make it 10-1 heading to the fifth.
Winner will advance to face Arkansas at 9 pm EST Sunday evening. Whoever faces the Razorbacks will need to log a win Sunday night and another win Monday evening to advance.
